January 17, 2007

In a bid to attract the best for itself, the doyens of the petroleum industry promoted the career opportunities in the industry to enterprising young minds keen to take up challenges, at the industry Academia Interface of Petrotech 2007. Over 100 students and faculty and 28 leading institutions of the country interacted with the corporate sector to integrate academic pursuits with skill requirements of the hydrocarbon industry.

Former C&MD of GAIL M.R.Hingnikar, lamenting the lack of skilled professionals in the upstream and downstream industry, asked the students to realize the career opportunities and potential that are available for them and suitably equip themselves with the requisite knowledge.

VP of Realtime Solutions, Schlumberger (Houston) Sanjaya Sood generated enthusiasm in the young minds. Focussing on ‘Bright future ahead – energy industry’, he said that the hydrocarbon industry is equipped with the latest technology like Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Development of Ku-Band V-Sat and digital enablement for real-time operations. “However the bright students should have access to the challenges and problems of the real world as they have real time and practical solutions”.

Advisor (R&D), RIL Dr. A. K. Bhatnagar urged students to align their academic endeavours with futuristic demands of the energy sector.
